these sites and programs seem to be helpful for the most part. to those who arent too computer savy they might not help and the old fashioned going to the library and asking works for them. yet with todays computer generation i think 2.0 is a useful information system to those who seek it.

craigslist

criagslist is the online classifieds. its good for selling if someone doesnt use ebay and its local too which is a plus. i picked a post advertising ny rangers tickets because i love hockey and the rangers are the team (even though they're not doing so hot right now) but the tickets are selling for 200 or best offer and the game vs. the islanders which is a good game to watch

this website seems pretty useful. it reminded me of netflicks because there's no late fees =0) and much like my fellow musician nathina, i am in love with the classics so Bach was a must.

task 15 docs

the google documents is a great tool. this site is good to use in collaboration with a professor who can help a student out while writing their papers.

task 14 wikis

wikis seems to be very helpful. sometimes with reviews of just one person whom you dont even know cant be helpful in deciding what you want. yet with the wikis you can read posts by just about anyone with numerous people giving their information to share so it makes decision making easier for the reader or the person who wants the information. the book lovers wiki would work great and having it in the library will make posting opinions on books easier as well. its like having a book discussion online.

task 13 new feeds

once i figured out how to use the google feeds i liked that site the best. it was easiest to pick out the feeds that someone would personally like to look at and also to organize them on your own side tool bar. the help page and finding feeds in the search was also easy.

task 12 feeds

i think the feeds off of our library website are much more helpful than google feeds because i think our site is easily accesable and less confusing than google. you also dont have to create an account with out website. this way our patrons will have easier access to information that we think they should know or be interested in.

it's a really capitivating picture the way it's focused on the book and how the pages are blank as if it was waiting for someone to write its story. i think this site is a great way to look at art through photogrpahy and to view the world through a camera lense, how something really is.

i love youtube. it's a great website to explore random videos or catch up on current events and even relive them. great place to always go to and find something new and entertaining. if applied to the library website, news posts and even posts on book interviews or community posts will be easily obtained and will keep the public even more informed.

i think the tag cloud is a great approach to help people narrow down what they are searching for. with this tool people can receice not just one result for a keyword but many and in this way they have more of a choice as to what they would like to view or take out.

delicious

delicious seems like it could be a very useful tool. in today's society where there is tons of information shared across the internet, it's important to know what you are reading and what you want to view. i believe it could be a great research tool when you dont know exactly what you need but you have an idea, you can use tags to find exactly what you are subconciously looking for. the tag cloud in our OPAC system is just about the same as delicious and really helps narrow down what people are looking for.

facebook and myspace

#1 the library facebook site has 113 fans and i noticed the patchogue, medford, riverhead and many other libraries have facebook pages. i think the library should also feature many other photos from different programs (major programs) like the italian luncheon, etc. because it can give the reader a chance to see how great many of the programs are.
#2 i think it's really great how we have the catalogue on the pages so it makes out library even more acessable. also how the teen page has live homework help which is great for people who cant make it to the library for help and since many teens are already on myspace.
#3 myspace and facebook are similar because they offer similar programs and accesses like the posting of programs. yet they do differ because i feel as if facebook as many mroe categories to choose from and is more easy to view with the groupings of topics. social networking online appeasl to so many because so many are already online. it's a new technology that people can't get enough of and just want more. by the library participating in the sites is already a huge step for the community.

twitter

twitter is a neat llittle site for some quick and random information. Need a review of a book or recommendation of a novie, or even followup on news? go to twitter!

blogging and 2.0

this program seems like a great way to communicate and to read each other's thoughts since it's hard to discuss on the job anyway. good way to keep in touch and to catch up on what's going on.
